City council approves $31.7 million budget

The Maryville City Council met in special session last night.

The main item on the agenda was the approval of the 2020 fiscal year budget. City Manager Greg McDanel says the council approved a $31.7 million budget.

"That budget includes numerous initiatives over the next year, but mainly the things that jump out would be South Main, the Maryville Public Safety facility.  There are some funds for joint 9-1-1 equipment, downtown traffic signals, beginning a remodel study of City Hall, and several other major initiatives."

McDanel says projects included in the new budget come from the city's comprehensive plan.
